8 best solo travel destinations in Africa for girls travelling solo

Africa is both second largest and second most populated continent after Asia but remains largely unexplored by tourists & travelers alike. The reasons are plenty like safety & security issues, unemployment, poverty, lack of infrastructure barring some countries like South Africa & Egypt among many others.


Having said that Africa has some breathtaking solo travel destinations which are favorable even for girls travelling solo. We have curated a list of 8 such solo travel destinations, here you go:


Coffee Bay

Coffee Bay is a small beach town on the Wild Coast in South Africa’s Eastern Cape region, it has a very lazy & backpacker feel to it unlike popular beach spots. Coffee Bay is not very commercialized but has decent backpacker hostels and guest houses which are easy on pocket and make it suitable for solo travelling through Africa for both men & women alike.



Kendwa

You have most probably heard a lot about the Koh Phangan full moon parties but Kendwa is your better alternative to Thailand. The best part about Kendwa beach is its crystal clear deep water fit for swimming throughout the day. Nungwi & Kendwa have long been favorite of solo travelers for its hippie vibes & the presence of both cheap hostels & affordable luxurious resorts make it ideal for girls travelling solo.


P.S. Just in case you do get bored of swimming in turquoise water you can head over for a Zanzibar Wild Safari.


Tofo

Tofo is known as one of the best places in the world to spot whale sharks, humpback whales, dolphins, & manta ray fishes among the vast natural underwater sea life. Tofo in Mozambique is also one of the best places in the world for scuba diving. Tofo is a small backpacker destination set on the east coast of Africa which makes it a heaven for girls travelling solo looking for an empty beach.




Jinja

Jinja is a town located in southeastern Uganda where the Nile flows out of Lake Victoria, now one of the important parts of Uganda. This is one of the best places in the world for Kayaking & White water rafting in the Nile river is considered one of the very best across the world making it a perfect solo travel destination especially for women traveling solo.



Lake Kivu

Lake Kivu is the largest of numerous freshwater bodies in the valleys of Rwanda enclosed by steep, green terraced hills along the Congolese border Three resort towns, Gisenyi, Kibuye and Cyangugu.


Activities like speed boats, canoe sailing & mountain walks in Kibuye along Lake kivu make it our favorite places for travelling solo.


Taghazout

Taghazout is a beautiful coastal village in Morocco which is gaining popularity with girls travelling solo as a leading surfing destination apart from being the yoga capital of Africa. Surfing & Yoga seem like a perfect solo female travel destination, you can spend days here learning to surf the quiet sea and rejuvenating yourself by practicing yoga.



Cape Maclear

Cape Maclear is a little resort town on the southern shore of Lake Malawi at the tip of the Nankumba Peninsula. With an array of beach side bars and some spectacular local cafes in the scenic setting of golden sand beaches lapped by dazzling turquoise water makes Cape Maclear a must do destination for women travelers. You can also spot the majestic fish eagle here!



Nairobi

Nairobi is home to a variety of animals including lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and leopards. It's also one of the best places to see the endangered black rhino hence very famous with solo travelers. We know you might remember Money heist when you hear Nairobi but well think about Masai Mara, elephant safari, Great Rift Valley & Mount Kilimanjaro yes Kenya has so much to do which makes it an amazing solo female travel destination.
