Itinerary:
DAY 1 | Arrive Glasgow
Meet your tour guide at Glasgow Airport, before a panoramic tour of Glasgow. You will explore Saint Mungo’s Cathedral and visit Provand’s Lordship, Glasgow’s oldest house. Transfer to your hotel where you will enjoy a welcome drink and some free time. This evening we will meet for a welcome dinner.
DAY 2 | Loch Lomond
This morning you will depart for the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Here you will enjoy a visit to Balloch Castle Country Park and a cruise on the Loch Lomond before continuing through dramatic Glencoe before reaching your hotel.
DAY 3 | Isle of Skye
This morning you will journey to Fort William where you will board the Jacobite Steam Train, better known as the Harry Potter Train. You will travel though breathtaking scenery to Mallaig, where you will board a ferry “Over the Sea to Skye.” Once here you will visit Armadale Castle and Gardens, home of the Clan McDonald or travel to the island’s capital, Portree. Afterward you will make a photo stop at the Eilean Donan Castle before reaching Inverness, your home for the next two evenings.
DAY 4 | Loch Ness
After a leisurely breakfast you will depart for Loch Ness where you will visit to Urquhart Castle. While here you may catch a glimpse of Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. There will be free time in Inverness, the largest city and cultural capital of the Scottish Highlands
DAY 5 | Culloden & Perthshire
Today we head to Perthshire via Culloden Moor, site of the 1746 Battle of Culloden. Afterward is a visit to the ancestral home of the Clan Murray, Blair Castle. The castle is the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl and home to Europe's last remaining private army, the Atholl Highlanders. You will travel to the highland town of Pitlochry where you will undertake a tour and tasting of Edradour Distillery, Scotland’s smallest distillery.
DAY 6 | St Andrew's
The first visit of the day is Glamis Castle. The castle is set amongst beautiful gardens, and is considered one of Scotland’s most impressive, romantic and reputedly haunted castles. It’s then on to St. Andrews, home of Scotland’s oldest university and capital of golf. There will be free time in St. Andrews to stroll the beach, enjoy traditional shops and have lunch before reaching Edinburgh. This evening you are free to dine in one of Edinburgh’s fine establishments.
DAY 7 | Edinburgh
After an early breakfast in the hotel, you will enjoy an exclusive, pre-opening tour of Edinburgh Castle. You will then enjoy a panoramic city tour of Edinburgh which features the “New” and the “Old” towns. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the city further. Tonight, you will attend the Spirit of Scotland Show.
DAY 8 | Departure
Today we say good-bye to beautiful Scotland and new friends.
